Herring 3 per pack
Herring is a very oily, soft fleshed fish with a bluish green back to silver underside and is covered with thin scales. The herrings we use are caught in and around the Thames Estuary in the winter by small trawlers and are graded packed and blast frozen the same day as capture. Predator's jack herrings come packed 3 - 4 fish per pack depending upon the size of the fish.

Herring Tails 4 per pack
These come from the larger fish that are to big to pack as jacks and to small to pack as herrings. We cut the fish the same as we do for mackerel tails and pack 4 to the pack. These baits disperse a lot of scent very quickly and are the heavy weights of the herring range of baits produced by Predator Baits specifically for the pike angler.

Sprats 8 per pack
The ideal size for the sprats that we pack, is 48 to the kilo which gives us an average weight fish of 20gms. The early run of fish in September is very oily and it is these that we like to pack 8 per pack as our sprat natural colour. Later in the season, after the first few frosts, the sprats become far less oily and will then except the food dyes we use for colouring, gold ( deep yellow orange ), red and yellow. The dyes that we use are food dyes and will wash of your hands reasonably easily.
